On October 20 (as pointed out by New Statesman contributor Elizabeth Kolbert), just after Justice Center researchers published their findings, I filed a Freedom of Information Act petition asking then California Sen. Kamala Harris whether she had responded or was planning more studies at the company level that we hoped she would do more of after coming forward. I had previously sent Harris a "headline query" seeking comment because we believed an increase or decrease in sexual health industry marketing would "imperil free and open discourse."
